State Testing Opt-Out Form
New York State Standardized tests will be given in April and May.
Central Park East II, along with other public schools is required to administer the New York State tests to all students. However, many CPEII parents choose to exercise their parental right (as confirmed by ESSA and acknowledged by city and state officials) to refuse the tests for their students.

New This Year for SOME Grades - Computer Based Testing
Students in Grades 3, 4, 6 & 7 will continue to take traditional paper tests this year.

ALL students in Grades 5 & 8 who take the tests, will do so on computers.
There is no option for students in these grades to take tests on paper.

Please read and select below the subjects you refuse for your students to be tested in:

I understand that the school is required to administer the New York State tests to all students; I also understand that I have a parental right (as confirmed by ESSA and acknowledged by city and state officials) to refuse these tests.

In exercise of that right, I refuse to allow my child to participate in spring 2024 New York State tests, as well as any field tests for future state exams.

No one in the school or district has suggested that my child should be excluded from participating; this is my personal choice as a parent. My decision to refuse in no way reflects on the hard work and talent of the teachers, administration, or staff at the school.

Thank you in advance for respecting my refusal.
